Essential Eligibility Criteria
Stand-up Paddle Boarding

In order to participate in this program, one:

  • Must have the ability to follow verbal and/or visual instructions independently or with assistance of a companion.
  • Must have the ability to wear a properly fitted personal flotation device.
  • Must not exceed manufacturer’s weight limit for vessel (275 lbs.), with gear.
  • Must have the ability to get on to and off of the Stand-up Paddleboard independently or with the assistance of a companion or self supplied adaptive device.
  • Must have the ability to remain seated, maneuver, and balance independently or with assistance of a companion or self supplied adaptive device.
  • Must have the ability to withstand exposure to the outdoors, including sun, heat and insects, for up to (three) hours.
  • Must have ability to grasp and maneuver a paddle, or the ability to move the Stand-up Paddleboard through the water in a stable manner with self-supplied adaptive device.
  • Must have the ability, alone or with the assistance of a companion, to carry or drag the Stand-up Paddleboard from the rack to the water and the water to the rack, over sandy, wet, and uneven terrain, a distance of approximately (40) feet.

In the event of capsizing, one:

  • Must have the ability to get out from under the watercraft, independently.
  • Must have the ability to right oneself and remain face up in the water with the aid of a personal flotation device.

Essential Eligibility Criteria

Canoe/Kayak Rental or Tour

Participation Requirements:

  • Participant with gear must not exceed the manufacturer’s weight limit for the vessel (275 pounds for a single kayak; 450 pounds for a double kayak; 780 pounds for a canoe)
  • Must have the ability to follow verbal and/or visual instructions independently or with the assistance of a companion.
  • Must have the ability to traverse uneven and unstable terrain independently or with the assistance of a companion for distances up to 100 feet.
  • Must have the ability to wear a properly fitted personal flotation device (PFD)
  • Must have the ability to enter and exit the canoe/kayak independently or with the assistance of a companion or with the use of adaptive equipment.
  • Must have the ability to remain seated, maneuver, and balance independently or with the assistance of a companion or with the use of adaptive equipment.
  • At least one person in the canoe/kayak must have the ability to move it through the water in a stable manner and return it back to the launching area.

In the event of a capsize, you:

  • Must have the ability to get out from under the watercraft, independently.
  • Must have the ability to right oneself and remain face up in the water with the aid of a personal floatation device (PFD).
